Yesterday the first ever youth hackathon in Sacramento was held at Hacker Lab.  This event was for young makers, programmers, and creatives aged 12 – 18 years. The whole Rocket Department crew attended to mentor the teams, provide feedback, and teach technical skills. During 32 hours of intense planning, building and presenting the teams came up with projects ranging from a hovercraft powered by fans, a phone app that picks clothes from your wardrobe based on your mood and a 3D printed cellphone. On Day 1 (Saturday 6/14) Hacker Lab hosted tons of workshops, covering topics including Laser Cutting, Video Game Development, Learning Galileo Embedded Systems, Circuits, Intro to 3D Printing and more. Here are some of our favorite moments for Sac Hackapalooza

The Sac Hackapalooza attendees never ceased to amaze us with their ingenuity.  The future for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) is bright for Sacramento. Keep on Making!
